It’s no secret I’m a big fan of the Drink and Dine Group. I’ve been to The Abercrombie, The Carrington and The Forresters, who all offer tasty and affordable pub fare.
The next venture? Queenie’s, located upstairs at The Forresters. It’s set to open next Friday (October 19). Executive chef Jamie Thomas (read our interview with him here) has crafted this eatery with influences from Jamaica and the Carribbean.
There are some dishes dishes on menu – BBQ jerk corn, calypso coffee ribs, dirty rice and pikapeppa steak – I have never heard of, and which I’d love to try.
The offering looks perfect for the upcoming summer; plenty of tropical produce, lots of grill action and heaps of spice.
I’ve included some photos posted by Jamie on Instagram but it remains to be seen if they will be the finished product, but they certainly look appetising.
Have a squiz at the menu below.
Hopefully I’ll make the trip to Queenie’s next week and check it out. Are there any similar restaurants in Sydney who serve this type of food? Let me know!

Dear Kevin,
Pub fare has really become quite good in Sydney at affordable too and Forresters in Surry Hills has been one of the most consistent around town. I remember when they first offered the $5 steak and Sydney went gaga!

I’m yet to try the $5 steak but I’d love to! I agree about Sydney pubs, do you have any recommendations?

It’s really intriguing. I like the combination of sweet, sour and spice. You’ve got to try the jerk pork neck, jerk chicken and goat curry!
